Our slogan tells you what the Eagles are all about.
We are...... "People Helping People."

For a century, the FRATERNAL ORDER of EAGLES has been a major
influence Internationally, Nationally, Regionally,
in our States and Provinces, AND most of all..... in our communities.

It was the EAGLES who started Mothers Day,
who provided the impetus for Social Security,
who ended job discrimination based on age.
Who've built training centers all over the world.
Who raise millions of dollars every year to combat
heart disease and cancer. Help handicapped kids,
uplift the aged and otherwise make life a little brighter for
people not as lucky and blessed as we are.

We uphold and nourish the values of Home, Family
and Community that are so necessary and it seems so often today,
so ignored and trampled in society.

We're home town builders. We support our police and firefighters
and others who protect and serve us.
We fund research in areas such as
Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Diabetes and Cancer.
We help raise money for neglected and abused children
and for the aged.....
we are the Eagles, and we are People Helping People.
We're volunteers and have fun volunteering.

Our praises have been sung by Presidents and Prime Ministers,
but still today too many people wonder 'WHO ARE THE EAGLES?"
It's time to get out the word, WE ARE THE EAGLES!
For 100 years we have been leaders in the effort to
make the world a brighter and better place for everyone.

Thanks For All Of The Great Memories!
God Bless You "Fat Al",
God Bless Your Wife, Family And Your Friends.
All Of Our Love...
From Your Brothers And Sisters At Interlochen Eagles 3503

Allen "Fat Al" Herzfeld
INTERLOCHEN — Our dear friend, loving husband and father, Allen
"Fat Al" Herzfeld, passed away unexpectedly at home May 21, 2008.

Al was born on Sept. 24, 1940, in Detroit, to Arnold and Leona
(Gordon) Herzfeld. Al married Christine L. Herzfeld on Nov. 24,
1979.

Al was an Interlochen resident most of his life. He owned the
Fireplace Inn for 12 years. Most recently, he maintained the Green
Lake Township Park for over 12 years.

Al was past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles for
seven non-consecutive years.

Al was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; he was
an excellent cook and donated his time and many talents to
numerous events. Al was always available when anybody needed
help.

He enjoyed the annual February Follies at the Eagles, where he
was Jake and his good buddy, JR, was Elwood. Each year for many
years the two would dance out the Blues Brothers tunes, a crowd
favorite.

Chris and Al took vacations to Mexico, where they enjoyed time
together and fun with loving friends and family. Chris and Al
enjoyed their time at home working on their beautiful home and
garden, where Al was currently putting in a new waterfall.

Al is survived by his wife of 28 years, Chris Herzfeld; his sisters,
Lynn (Dave) Griffith of Brighton and Donna (Steve) Rutter of North
Carolina; the mother of his children, Joyce (Randy) Deline; his son,
Bradley Herzfeld of Interlochen; daughters, Kelly Herzfeld of New
York and Tiffany (Jay) Intardanato of New York; along with
grandchildren, Kyle Herzfeld of Interlochen, and Zoe and Cooper
Intardanato of New York. Also surviving are Karen and Steve
Doherty and family, and Lori and Wayne Tulppo and family.

Cremation was planned and a Celebration of Life will be on Sunday,
May 25, from 2 to 5 p.m., at the family home.

Memorials may be given in Al's name to the Green Lake Township
Park, PO Box 157, Interlochen, MI 49643.

Please share a memory of Al at www.MeM.com.
